Dr. Cora Coulter Bolden
School Psychologist, Founder of Girl’s Moving Upward, Wife, Mother, Sister, Girlfriend &
Women of God, whose passion is young women, children and adolescents who are outsiders looking in.
Dr. Bolden is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. She moved to Cincinnati to pursue her Doctorate degree at the University of Cincinnati and remained here after completion of that degree. Dr. Bolden is a Licensed and Nationally Certified School Psychologist and is currently employed by The Cincinnati Public School District. She has worked in the district for 18 plus years. In addition, she has also taught as an adjunct Professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati Evening College.
Dr. Bolden is committed to the advancement, growth and development of young people. She enjoys working with youth of all ages, however her passion is adolescent girls. In the summer of 2006, she founded a program entitled “Girls Moving Upward” (GMU), a mentoring program for young girls ages 12- 18. A goal of GMU was to empower the participants to be free of their past mistakes and adversities, by equipping them to be successful in school, work, business and personal life. The girls were exposed to monthly growth opportunities through speakers, retreats and hands-on opportunities within the community. Some of the girls were awarded Scholarships to attend college. This program lasted through 2013.
Dr. Bolden is actively involved in her Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated and working within that organization with youth programs. She is an active member of her church in which she has served in the children’s ministry, the women’s ministry and leads a Women’s bible study class, as well.
Dr. Bolden is married and they have a 17 year old son together. She Loves God, she Loves people and she Loves Life. One of Dr. Bolden’s favorite quotes, is “People don’t care what you know, until they know that you Care”. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 3:12-13 paraphrased, it states “Forgetting those things that lie in the past, setting aside all that I have attained…I strive to be more Christ-like.”
